I'm a watercolor artist, photographer and farmer from California, currently living... nowhere specific. As someone who didn't have the courage or encouragement to pursue any kind of artistic endeavors as a youngen, I am quite familiar with the challenges of starting over, and particularly as an emerging artist. Obstacles often present themselves as opportunities, to learn, to grow, to change, to adapt; but I'd like to offer a welcoming place to live side by side with those ever-necessary challenges. When I first began creating, the photography community I found myself surrounded by was a significant source of drive for my success and my wellbeing. I believe community can be powerfully uplifting as well as a balm for the soul. Get Closer Magazine is intended to create a welcoming space for new artists of all backgrounds, as well as be a platform to showcase their work and voices.
