José Goz
Hi! I am José Goz, queer artist, comics teacher and full-time dreamer. Since childhood, I have always been inclined to artistic and storytelling outputs: from literature and cinema, to music and the plastic arts. And although I believe for most people this is incipiently natural, I have spent most of my cognitive life pursuing, polishing and broadening that tendency to self-expression.
I was born in Santomera, a town in the sunbathed lemon orchards of the southeastern region of Murcia (Spain). At 18 I moved to Granada (Andalucía, Spain) where I finished Professional Music Studies and studied Fine Arts, which later on was followed by a Master’s Degree in Drawing. I am very passionate towards equality, celebrating one’s identity and I hold a strong belief in the healing value of art; reasons why I eventually became an art teacher.
My work, infused with this point of view as well as a strong will to capture human truth, has been exhibited in Granada, Cuenca, Cádiz, Madrid or Donostia, as well as international cities such as Vienna, Brno, Bergamo, Tokyo or Poznan.
My powerful curiosity has taken me to take part in several research programs and international projects and currently I teach graphic storytelling in the University of the Arts in Poznan; institution in which I am simultaneously finishing my PhD research.
